Remarkable collection of four 1918 portraits by artist Frost, created in Kiev during the Russian Civil War. Each portrait captures military figures of the period, showing detailed uniforms, medals and traditional Cossack dress including a distinctive pink kaftan. Signed and dated 'Frost Kiev 1918', The provenance includes notable San Francisco Bay Area galleries (Creative Arts of Sausalito and C. Skobels of San Francisco) suggesting these works were part of the important wave of Russian art that reached America during the émigré period likely brought to America by émigrés or collectors in the post-revolutionary period.
Professionally mounted on black board in a period frame measuring 28cm with each portrait approximately 10cm in height. Art in good condition though some spots on mounting and scuffs on wood frame.
